Zeus and Ganymede from 1992, showing an eagle’s profile, was my first picture that depicted an animal form. In Mary Bird, I wanted the dove to seem as if it was going to fly down out of the picture and land. In Mary Bird Second, I changed the composition so the dove would seem to be climbing higher.

Job Before the Whirlwind are shown in menacing poses. The horse Roncally is shown pacing in place, but in Rider, the chestnut mare is half asleep.
