The depiction of the human figure, particularly when nude, is my favorite genre. Often I use subjects taken from Greek myths, so I can link my own work into the stream of art history, and reflect and comment on the various artistic conventions used to depict the human figure. |

This medium of woven color plates provides a way to infuse simple forms with iconography, so that each figure can be composed with images of that figures archetypes. And the way the eye flies back and forth from large to small details, imposes a sort of fiery activity to the larger composition. Three of the figure works on this page are in grisaille, which means that they use only blacks, whites, and grays. |
